Vinification notes

The grapes destined for the blend were vinified separately and only blended afterward. The must, obtained through gentle pressing, underwent cold static settling to encourage natural clarification. Fermentation, carried out with selected yeasts, took place over 12 days at a controlled temperature of 18°C. The wine is then aged for six months on fine lees in stainless steel tanks and subsequently undergoes gentle filtration before bottling to preserve its structure and persistence on the palate.

Facts about the name

The name is inspired by Gaius Caesar, son of Germanicus, better known as Caligula: an emperor with an eccentric personality and the subject of countless anecdotes. A lover of water and navigation, Caligula drew on the Egyptian and later Hellenistic tradition of sanctuary ships, ceremonial rites, and the Eastern cult of Isis. Between AD 37 and 41, he commissioned two extraordinary ships, monumental and richly adorned, inspired by Egyptian tradition and the cult of Isis.
